Prof. Dr. Murat DOĞRUEL was born in Istanbul in 1967, attended Pertevniyal High School, and graduated from Istanbul Technical University with a B.Sc. in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 1988. He received his M.Sc. (1992) and Ph.D. (1995) degrees from The Ohio State University.
He joined the faculty of Marmara University in 1995 as Associate Professor in 1998. He led the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Marmara University for years. He worked as a visiting faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Miami between 2001 and 2003. He was promoted to Full Professor at Marmara University in 2005. He held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) from 2006 to 2008, where he currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees. He also held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Marmara University from 2014 to 2017. He worked in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University (2022–2024) and Head of the Department of Computer Engineering at Fenerbahçe University (2024–2025). He continues his academic studies in the Department of Computer Engineering at Istanbul 29 Mayis University.
His research fields include control systems, signal and image processing, electronics, and harmonic control sequences, a concept he developed.
